I love to jog on the treadmill I have at my house. Right now I’m jogging at 5mph for 60minutes (1 hour) with 0 incline, and I’m hoping on working my way up to 7mph for 30minutes in the upcoming months. I wanted an idea of how fast people normally jog/run on a treadmill and for how long, so I can determine how realistic my goal is.

I have a program I do every night!

    5 min- 5 mph
    1 min- 5.3
    2 min-5.5
    1 min-5.8
    5 min – 6
    5 min – 6.5
    5 min – 7
    1 min – 7.5
    1 min – 8.0
    1 min – 8.5
    1 min – 9.0
    1 min – 9.5
    3 min – 6
    2 min – 5
    5 min – 4.0 cool down

I love this routine. The intervals are really good for stamina. I usually put it at a 1.5 incline.

….3.5-for 5 minutes 4-4.5 for 10 minutes to warm up the legs then run for 30 minutes at 6 also…remember….your body starts produce it’s own oxygen at about 20 minutes…so keep going at least until then…it will then get easier.

    good luck on your goal.

30 min 10 incline at 7.0 speed Sun and Friday.
weight lift Tues-Thur. depending on amount of homework and part-time job schedule.

Keep it up! Motivation hints= “Hook yourself up to the Music”
“No pain no Gain” “Not sweating not losing”
P.S. My mom does 5.6 speed at 5.0 (for 30 min) incline and usually loses 600+-20 calories each day.

Your goal is realistic, however try running on an incline of 1. This is a better standard to compare to running outside. To be honest there is no reason to be on a treadmill for 60 minutes. Try the following routine:
-Start out with a 2-4 minute warm up at 80% of your fastest pace
-Then tone it down to 60% for 1.5 minutes
-then go 90% for 30 seconds
do this routine 7-9 times and your done with cardio.
this burns fat faster than a steady pace

I do 45mins and tend to adjust my incline from 0-3.0 and speed from 5.5-6.5 throughout the whole work out. If you up your incline you work harder than running on a flat incline.
