First, change your eating habits for the better. Try to make better choices on a daily basis.

Then, try them both out for a few times. The secret is not which one works better, but which one you enjoy more so that you would continue to do it for the long term. Better yet, try to do different exercises such as walking, running, cycling, swimming, tennis, so you don't get bored and quit. They all work. Consistency is the key.

Instead of eatting less go for eatting better - cut back on processed crap & instead eat fresh, like carrots instead of chips - fruit instead of candy. I've struggled with weight but am finally on a good plan - not dieting just eatting better. My fave is vanilla yogurt with sliced apples, it's actually really good. Drink lots of water, it will help flush toxins & fat. As for the machines, you are better off buying a good pair of cross trainer sneakers & walking outisde - of course it isn't always best, right? Maybe bad weather, bad neighborhood...so I would go for the treadmill. You can start slow, maybe 3-4 times a week for as long as you can. Then increase the speed & time every week.My trainer says optimal heart rate for burning fat is between 120-150 so make sure to check your pulse as you work out so you don't push your body harder than it's ready to go. Good luck!!
