You have to come up with some type of a reward system, this will help keep you motivated. One of the best things to do is make a contingency contract. Stating what you want to do, who will help you do it, and what do you get for doing it.

Then also try to find a well balance diet program. My friend did this one diet program where the average weight lose is 7 pounds in 9 days. It might be the thing you are looking for, I know it's well balanced. If you want e-mail me and I can tell you more about either of these.

I think ellipticals are best because they will help with the weight loss, its easier because you get to use your arms to pull you along too and it tones your arms, waist and legs, more than the treadmill or bike. You are supposed to do like 30 mins a few days a week, obviously the longer and more often you do it for, the quicker the weight will go! Good luck.

Both treadmill and elliptical would be good workout machines for losing weight.. You need to do any one first and then switch to the other one every 2 to 4 weeks so that your body wouldn't be able to adjust to the workout thus keeping your weight loss constant.. You will definitely lose a lot of weight if you do these because it will add more to your energy expenditure as long as you don't add anything to what you eat.. You can lose more by eating less or substituting some of what you eat with food with less fat and wholegrain..

A healthy way to lose weight would be 2 pounds a week which translates to 8 pounds a month so losing 20 pounds would take you 2.5 months.. You can lose more but it will more than likely come back if it wasn't 2 pounds per week because your body needs time to adjust.. Good luck..

I know you don't want to hear this, but you have to experiment. I've gotten great results using the ellipical and treadmill. 25 minutes on each. I got great results walking on the treadmill, but you have to vary the recline and speed.

The bike is a little easier on your knees, but other than that they are all pretty good when used properly. Unless you have bad knees or a are overweight, the best one for you is the one you'll be least bored doing.

I would suggest use each one on different days for a few weeks and if you find you really like one over the others then use it more.

With working out, variety is the most important thing.

Another good thing with bikes, is that it's generally easier to read or drink water while using one - if that matter to you.
