I just don’t get it. Or even the stair-stepper. Why not just go outside and run. I don’t mean to offend. Whenever i ran the two mile in the army i alway did better when i ran to a certain point, rather than on a track where you just do circles. It seems like the same thing for a treadmill. This is more like something for a gerbil.

humans are such social creatures, aren’t they? =]

they need motivation, and all the other sweating bodies gives off the extra energy…

I live in a pretty cold state and am not cold tolerant at all so I would never get exercise all winter if I didn’t have a gym membership. Plus I like having the classes and opportunities to try more things. And I don’t have to worry about being kidnapped or run over by a car when I’m running.

well, let’s see, for those of us that live in severe climates (very hot summers, very cold winters or both) then going to a climate controlled environment makes sense. same for people that need the motivation of having spent money on an event to participate.

Some of us gerbils live in areas like Alaska & going outside is not something for a crazy person who doesn’t mind ice cycles hanging out their nose. But that’s just up here.

well personally I just can’t exercise outside. I get very easily distracted by nature and end up slowing down or stopping to look at something. If i run on a treadmill, personally i prefer the elliptical, I get my workout done and I’m more focused. Just wanted to let you know why I’m a “gerbil”.

lik really…especially when its like 70 out and it sunny
you DRIVE to the gym to go walk
like wth? i can understand people who lift and do cardio
thats straight…thats wat a gyms for cuz its not like your going to walk outta the gym and go run 6 miles…the gym i go to(its so *** and overexpensive) i spend 450 dollars a year on…and really the only things they have is treadmills and steppers and ****….and like 2 benches a squat rack and smith machine and a incline bench some benches and dumbells up to 100 pounds
its so dumb…i dont get why gyms focus there money on weight training equipment rather than treadmills
oh well…guess il never get it…i need to go somewhere else
to bad my mom wont lemme do that (im 16)

    edit
    when i used to run
    i carried 4 knives
one in each pockets (theres two) and 2 strapped on my ankles….run with shorts and noone will **** with you
and i live in a really fucked up area where people get shot daily
and the cops dont do **** but beat random people on the streets
and ***** heads and drug dealers are everywhere

    welcome to chicago

Becuz outside you can get kidnapped like once i was playing paint ball outside and someone thought it was real guns and shot me through the ***** and i was seriously injured for 3 years,i won the case at court and once my other friend was jogging outside and a kidnapper came out and stole his pubes and Nike Shoes so i suggest staying inside

For one thing there is no weather inside a gym. You also don’t have to worry about cars or being attacked.
I also know many people who need that motivation of actually going to a place to exercise. I’ve seen people who are dedicated gym rats totally flake out when they try to work out at home.
